The Business School Admissions Advisor Who’s Been on the Inside

Rebecca’s Background

A Perspective No Typical College Counselor Can Offer

Rebecca Cook brings a career’s worth of real-world financial expertise and deep insider knowledge of elite business education to her work as a college advisor. For families with students who are serious about business — whether their path leads toward finance, consulting, investment management, or entrepreneurship — she offers a perspective that no typical college counselor can match.

Rebecca began her career on Wall Street, spending over a decade as an equity analyst and portfolio manager at firms including Prudential Financial, American Century Investments, ABN AMRO, and Voyageur Asset Management, where she co-managed hundreds of millions of dollars in institutional assets and led stock selections that outperformed industry benchmarks by 446%. She holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, one of the most rigorous credentialing processes in the financial industry.

In 2009, Rebecca joined Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, consistently ranked among the top 10 business schools in the country, where she spent the next 15 years in increasingly senior leadership roles. As Executive Director of Graduate and Undergraduate Career Services, she led a team of thirty professional staff, guided more than 10,000 undergraduate and 400 graduate students annually, and helped build a career services program ranked #1 in the nation by Bloomberg Businessweek and #3 globally by The Economist. She also served as Executive Director of the MBA Program and Director of the Capital Markets Academy, where she taught live investment fund courses and co-led a comprehensive curricular redesign of Kelley’s MBA program. Throughout her tenure, she personally coached hundreds of MBA students through their career journeys, developing an intimate understanding of what top business programs—and the employers who recruit from them—are looking for in candidates.

Rebecca is also a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coaching Federation, with additional certifications in Co-Active Coaching, Emotional Intelligence (EQi), and Immunity to Change facilitation. She has served as President and Board Member of MBA CSEA, the leading professional association for graduate business career services.

What Rebecca brings to college advising is rare: the ability to see a student’s trajectory not just from the admissions side, but all the way through to career outcomes. She knows which business programs produce the best results, which ones have the strongest recruiting relationships with top firms, and how to help a student build — from high school forward — the academic profile, extracurricular narrative, and personal brand that opens the right doors.

For students who want to study business and mean business, Rebecca Cook is an advisor in a category of her own.
