Every year, we hear from families asking some version of the same question: “My student is bright, hardworking, and involved — so why does getting into an Ivy League school feel so out of reach?”
The honest answer is that Ivy League and Top 15 admissions have become a different game than they were even a decade ago. Acceptance rates at these schools now sit in the single digits, and the students who get in aren’t just the ones with the highest GPA or test scores — they’re the ones who’ve built a clear, authentic, well-told story across every part of their application. That’s where Ivy League admissions consulting comes in.
We recently put together answers to some of the most common questions we get from families exploring our program. We’re sharing them here, because if you’ve been wondering the same things, chances are you’re not alone.
What Services Do You Offer for Students Applying to Ivy League Colleges?
Our Ivy League admissions consulting package is comprehensive — it covers every stage of the process, not just pieces of it. That includes:
- College list development — building a balanced list of reach, target, and likely schools based on the student’s profile and goals
- Extracurricular curation — helping students identify and deepen the activities that will actually strengthen their application, rather than spreading themselves thin
- Essay development — full support on every essay, from brainstorming a genuine, compelling angle through final drafts
- Application strategy and execution — working through the mechanics of the Common App, supplemental questions, and school-specific requirements
- Letters of recommendation guidance — helping students approach the right recommenders and give them what they need to write a strong letter
- Overall strategy — tying every piece together into one cohesive narrative
Do You Help With College Selection, Application Strategy, Essays, Extracurricular Planning, and Interview Preparation?
Yes — all of it. We don’t believe in handing a family a binder of generic advice and checking in twice a year. Ivy League and Top 15 admissions require sustained, hands-on guidance across every one of these areas, and that’s exactly how we work.
How Often Do Students Meet With a Counselor?
Unlike many firms that rotate students through a team of counselors or limit contact to a few sessions per year, we work one-on-one with each student throughout the entire process. That consistency builds real rapport and trust — and for students applying to Top 15 schools, where the difference between a good application and a great one often comes down to authenticity and depth, that relationship matters. Your student isn’t explaining their story to a new person every few months. They’re working with someone who knows them.
What Grade Levels Do You Typically Begin Working With Students?
For students targeting Top 15 schools, we generally recommend starting in 9th grade. Early planning gives students time to make intentional choices about coursework, activities, and how they spend their summers — all of which compound over four years.
That said, an early start isn’t a strict requirement. We’ve worked with a junior who came to us in 11th grade and helped him earn acceptances to five Ivy League schools, along with Duke, Georgetown, WashU, and Michigan. The earlier we start, the more strategic runway we have — but a later start doesn’t rule out a strong outcome.
What Is Your Success Rate With Ivy League Admissions?
We want to be straightforward here, because this is an area where a lot of families get misled. Last year, we worked with three qualified students on Ivy League applications, and all three were admitted. That said, results vary year to year, and there are no guarantees in this process — any consultant who promises guaranteed Ivy League admission isn’t being honest with you. What we can offer is a rigorous, individualized process built around each student’s genuine strengths.
What Are Your Fees, and Do You Offer Different Counseling Packages?
We offer a range of packages depending on the scope of support a family needs. Full pricing details are available on our Services page, and our Top 15-focused packages include options for a defined number of school applications as well as an unlimited package covering the full Top 15 list.
Are Consultations Available Virtually, In Person, or Both?
Both. We work with families locally in Ventura County and Chicago, as well as with students nationwide through virtual sessions — so location is never a barrier to getting this level of support.
